Oil Refinery process is as followings:

Crude Oil---Reactor---Pre Filter---Liquid/Liquid coalesce---Refinery---Diesel Fuel

In the pre filter process, SIIC 5 micron extended life polypropylene felt liquid filter bags are recommended. The purpose is Protect to a Liquid/Liquid Coalescer From Particle Fowling.

Application: Refinery, Pre-Filter to Liquid/Liquid Coalescer for Dewatering Crude Oil

Purpose for Filtration: Protect a liquid/liquid coalescer from particle fowling.

Application: Crude oil is brought into the refinery and stored in large storage tanks. The refining process to make diesel fuel begins with the crude being "cut" with steam to begin the distillation process. To remove residual water from the crude a liquid/liquid coalescer is used. Although the coalescer is a good particle filter, its purpose is the separation of the water and crude oil. Particulate will disarm the coalescer and require this expensive cartridge to be replaced. A particulate pre filter is used to prolong the effective life of the coalescer.

SIIC Product: 5 micron extended life polypropylene felt liquid filter bags

Results: SIIC extended life polypropylene felt filter bags was tested, the life was 4 times of normal pp felt liquid filter bags. The customer was changing the coalescing filter cartridges every 2 weeks at a cost of USD8000 per change (USD208000 annually).

Normal SIIC pp filter bags lasted approx 5 days and extended life of the coalesce by 30%. Now the SIIC extended life pp filter bags make the coalesce life extend to 2 months.

So there is an estimated net savings to company of USD125000 per year.
